On Christmas the families gather for to share and to enjoy the happiness of this celebration.
The Christmas in Spain last 2 weeks, they begin on December 22nd, it’s the first day of festivity and the Christmas lottery be celebrated, and it finishes on January 7th, day after “the wizard kings”. On Christmas we eat Christmas food like nougat candy, “polvorones”, buns, … and we put Christmas decoration, the Christmas tree and the nativity scene.
For this celebrations there are some important Christmas dates, like;
December 24th: It’s the Christmas Eve, it’s called “Good Night”, this night we put thelettersand biscuits for Father Christmas. There is a family dinner, we usually eat shellfish.
December 25th: Christmas day. Some people have got their presents this day, the presents are brought for Father Christmas( a fat man, with red and white clothes), for the good children.
December 31st: The “Old Night”. There are a family dinner, twelve grapes(at 12 o’clock) and after ¡NIGHT OF PARTY!
January 6: The “wizard kings” day( they are 3 old wizards, Gaspar, Melchor and Baltasar, they travel with camels), there are some people that they have got the presents
this day. We eat with our family too and we eat the “kings’ roscón”, a big and circular filled bun, that it has inside a figure( the person that finds it has good luck and the “roscón’s crown”) and a bean(the person that finds it has to pay the next year’s “roscón”)The Christmas is a celebrity very familiar, we have to be good persons with other people and we have to forgive.Navidad.12/27/2006Escuela Internacional. 12/27/2006
